Nominated for the prestigious ATF Award, Our course at the University of Oxford – Metal Detecting for Archaeological Projects: An Introduction, went on to win the 2019 Archaeological Training Forum Award The AofD were presented the Award at the National Armouries Museum, Leeds.

Cutting-edge Research

The AofD were given the opportunity to work with Archaeology Research Services on the UK’s biggest excavation: HS2. Importantly, our role was to assist in developing a new approach embedding metal detecting with Geochemistry and Magnetic Susceptibility.

National Publicity

From detecting live on Channel 4 with Anton Du Beke, interviews on camera with Prof Suzannah Lipscomb and Prof Carenza Lewis, videos with Dan Snow and becoming part of the Time Team family, the AofD will be at the forefront of promoting the benefits of responsible metal detecting to the public.
